Youth Basketball Program
Youth Basketball Program 1st & 2nd Grade Instructional League
The program relies on volunteer coaches! All clearances are good for 5 years and are free to obtain!
1st and 2nd Grade Co-Ed Instructional Program (East and West)
This fundamental Co-Ed program encourages kids to develop a strong skill foundation with appreciation for the game of basketball. Players will be introduced to the sport of basketball establishing a foundation and understanding for how the game is played. The basics of court layout, rules, shooting, passing and dribbling will all be worked on. Players will begin the season with four practices to create a strong foundation. Volunteer coaches will work with the Recreation to create four teams. These four teams will have four games to experience game play.
This program will begin in October on Saturdays and run until November 21st for a total of 7 sessions.
Practices:
1st and 2nd Grade @ EAST 9-10:30am 10/3, 10/10, 10/17
1st and 2nd Grade @ WEST 9-10:30am 10/3, 10/10, 10/17
Games will be held at both locations starting October 24th. Please see the schedule once teams are established.
Please note there are no games on October 31st!
Youth Basketball Program Grades 3rd - 12th:
The purpose of the program is to teach the game of basketball to children of all skills and ability levels in a safe, fun, and inclusive environment. This program is proud to serve over 250 children each year. Each team will play approximately 8-10 games per season.
Please opt in for email reminders and other news. Players are drafted to teams. Practices and games will be held Monday through Thursday. We will also host games on Saturday mornings. Games/practices will be held at the various gyms throughout the Blue Mountain School District. The program runs from November through March. No activities will be held from December 23rd through January 3rd. Schedules can and will be adjusted due to weather, or space availability.

Draft Nights: Please see below for information regarding draft nights. Reminder, draft nights are encouraged but not mandatory. If your player misses the draft, they will be randomly assigned to a team by the supervisor and director.

Draft Night 1 Thursday November 5th - Middle School:
6-6:30pm - Girls Division A
7-7:30pm - Boys Division 1
8-8:30pm - Boys Division 2
Draft Night 2 Monday November 30th - Location Middle School:
6-6:30pm - Girls Division B
7-7:30pm - Girls HS Division
Draft Night 3 Thursday December 3rd - Location Middle School:
6-6:30pm - Boys Division 3
7-7:30pm - Boys HS Division
Players will be run through a series of drills focusing on the five skills (ball handling, dribbling, passing, court footwork, and shooting). Once their 30-minute session is done, players and guardians will be asked to leave. Coaches will send out an email, text message, or Team Reach/Team Snap within the next business day to their team.
Head Coaches: Please arrive 15 minutes early to your draft night.
