The Blue Mountain Recreation Commission is once again offering a full slate of summer activities with various sport camps and activities for children in grades K-12. Information and details on each individual camp/activity is listed below:
* Summer Running Club *
DATE & TIME: Tuesdays & Thursdays (6:00-8:00 p.m.)
DURATION: June 7, 2022 - August 11, 2022 (H.S. runners)
July 5, 2022 - August 11, 2022 (M.S. runners)
PLACE: Blue Mountain High School Stadium and surrounding areas
COST: Free
WHO: Blue Mountain residents entering grades 7-12

INFORMATION: The Blue Mountain varsity cross country coaching staff will once again be organizing a summer running club for any Blue Mountain resident (entering grades 7-12) interested in keeping in shape during the summer months. The primary goals of the running club is to improve aerobic conditioning, running form, proper running mechanics, muscular strength, muscular endurance, flexibility and core strength. Club members will need running sneakers, and will run every Tuesday and Thursday evening. The Club will be held rain or shine, but in the event of severe weather, you will be notified by text alert.
* Boys Summer Soccer *
DATE & TIME: Mondays and Wednesdays (8:00-10:30 a.m.)
DURATION: June 13, 2022 - July 25, 2022
PLACE: Blue Mountain High School (Weight Room and Burcik Field)
WHO: Blue Mountain resident boys entering grades 7-12 in the Fall
COST: $10 (this program is intended for boys who are interested in playing on the high school or middle school soccer teams this Fall)

INFORMATION: The Blue Mountain Recreation Commission will sponsor a Summer Soccer program for all interested Blue Mountain resident boys entering grades 7-12 in the Fall. The program will serve as summer workout sessions to get ready for the Fall seasons and will feature weight training, skill development and scrimmages. Weight training will be from 8:00-9:00 a.m. in the high school weight room followed by field time on Burcik Field. In the event of inclement weather, weight training will go on as scheduled.
* Girls Summer Volleyball *
DATES: June 13, 2022 - August 11, 2022 (Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays)
PLACE: Blue Mountain High School Gym (depending on availability) OR on the grass outfield of the softball field
WHO: Blue Mountain resident girls entering grades 9-12 in the Fall
TIMES: 8:00 a.m.-10:30 a.m. (Wednesdays until 10:00 a.m.)
COST: Free (this program is intended for girls who are playing or are interested in playing on the high school volleyball team this Fall)
INSTRUCTORS: Gregg Gergely (Head Varsity Coach) and staff
INFORMATION: The Blue Mountain Recreation Commission will sponsor a Summer Volleyball Program for all interested girls entering grades 9-12 in Fall of 2022. This program will serve as summer workout sessions to get ready for the high school season and will be held at the Blue Mountain High School Gym OR the grass outfield of the softball field on Mondays, Wednesdays & Thursdays beginning June 13th and continuing until August 11th. The program will be held from 8:00 to 10:30 a.m. (except for Wednesdays, which will go until 10:00 a.m.) In addition, the program will run all five days the final week from August 8th-12th (8:00 a.m.-10:00 a.m.). The sessions will offer skill development and match play. Participants should wear comfortable shorts, shirts, & sneakers. Knee pads are required.

COST: $40 for Blue Mountain residents and $60 for non-residents. Registration fees increase to $50 (residents) and $75 (non-residents) on June 1.

INFORMATION: The Blue Mountain Recreation Commission will sponsor a Summer Basketball Camp for all interested girls entering grades 3-8 in the Fall. The camp will be held in the Blue Mt. High School Gym and Auxiliary Gym during the week of June 13th-16th. The camp will feature training in fundamentals, ball handling, passing, dribbling, shooting and other skill development. The registration fee listed above will include instruction, materials, and a t-shirt. (Those registering after 5/31/22 WILL NOT be guaranteed a t-shirt).

High School Gyms during the week of June 20th-24th. The session will be held each day for boys entering grades 3-9 from 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. at the High School Gym. The camp will feature training in fundamentals, ball handling, passing, dribbling, shooting and other skill development. The registration fee listed above will include instruction, materials and a basketball (those registering after 6/7/22 WILL NOT be guaranteed a basketball).
* Tennis Camp *

INSTRUCTORS: Dr. Mark Abel (assistant professor of Kinesiology at Penn State. He has been a member of the United States Professional Tennis Association since 1984) and Oscar Ney (varsity head tennis coach at Blue Mountain).
INFORMATION: The Blue Mountain Tennis Camp will provide students with the opportunity to develop their skills in tennis. Students will have access to ball machines, group and individual instruction & organized play. The camp will run on days and times listed above at the Blue Mt. High School Tennis Courts. Blue Mt. Resident students entering 2nd grade through 9th grade in the Fall of 2021 are eligible to participate. Those registering after June 7th WILL NOT be guaranteed a t-shirt.

The camp will feature fundamentals of the game including: serving, hitting, blocking, passing, bumping, setting and spiking as well as match play. The camp will be held from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. daily. Participants should wear comfortable shorts, shirts and sneakers. Knee pads are required. The registration fee will include instruction, materials, and a T-shirt. T-Shirts WILL NOT be guaranteed for those registering after June 14th.

WHO: Students entering grades 1-8 in the Fall
TIME: 6:00-8:00 p.m.
COST: $30 for Blue Mountain residents and $45 for non-residents. Registration fees increase to $40 (residents) and $60 (non-residents) on June 22.
INSTRUCTORS: Head Track & Field Coaches Cory Mabry, Paige Lurwick and staff.
INFORMATION: The Blue Mountain Recreation Commission will sponsor a Summer Track & Field Camp for all interested students who are entering grades 1-8 in the Fall. The camp will be held at the Blue Mt. High School Stadium from July 5th through July 7th. The primary focus of this camp will be the basics & fundamentals of running, jumping and throwing. Each session will include 30-45 minutes of speed, quickness and agility development, and 30-45 minutes of individual techniques on the following events: 100 dash, 200 dash, 400 dash, 800 run, 1600 run, 100 low hurdles, high jump, long jump, shot put, discus and javelin (javelin is for 7th and 8th graders only). Athletes will select up to three (3) events in which they want to specialize in and compete in during the camp. Athletic shoes and attire is a must for every session. Athletes will be grouped based on their age and current grade level. Those registering after 6/21/22 WILL NOT be guaranteed a camp t-shirt.
* Cheer Camp *
DATES: July 18-20, 2022
PLACE: Blue Mt. Middle School Front Lawn
WHO: Girls entering grades K-8 in the Fall
TIME: 6:00-8:00 p.m.
COST: $30 for Blue Mountain residents and $45 for non-residents. Registration fees increase to $40 (residents) and $60 (non-residents) on July 6.
INSTRUCTORS: Blue Mountain Varsity & Junior Varsity Cheerleaders and Coaches (Kira Adams, Laurie Seigfried)
INFORMATION: The Blue Mountain Recreation Commission will sponsor a Cheer Camp for all interested girls entering grades K-8 in the Fall. The camp will be held rain or shine at the Blue Mt. Middle School Front Lawn (and school bus overhang) from 6:00-8:00 p.m. This Camp will provide participants instruction in basic techniques and fundamentals of cheerleading, including: cheers, chants, dance moves and other aspects of cheerleading. Participants MUST wear sneakers to this camp and are also encouraged to wear comfortable & appropriate clothing (No Tank Tops!). Participants must bring a drink to each session. Hair must be pulled back and no jewelry. T-Shirts WILL NOT be guaranteed for those registering after July 5th. In addition, all participants registered for this camp will be invited to a home varsity football game in the Fall to cheer on the sidelines with the varsity cheerleaders.
* Football Camp *
DATE: July 29, 2022
PLACE: Blue Mountain High School Practice Fields (in the Stadium)
WHO: Boys and girls entering grades 3-8 in the Fall
TIME: 9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.
COST: $20 for Blue Mountain residents and $30 for non-residents. Registration fees increase to $30 (residents) and $45 (non-residents) on July 18.
INSTRUCTORS: Tom Gallagher (Varsity football head coach) and the Blue Mountain High School Football staff. Camp will also feature several current Blue Mountain High School players.
INFORMATION: The Blue Mountain Recreation Commission will sponsor a Football Camp for all interested students entering grades 3-8 in the Fall. The purpose of the camp is to bring all young football players together on one field to learn the most important elements of being a complete football player, strong fundamentals and also to get participants to “think football.” The one-day camp will feature combine events, offensive and defensive positional work, and a 7-on-7 tournament at the conclusion of camp. The camp will provide instruction in basic techniques and fundamentals in a non-contact setting. Because it is a non-contact camp, no football equipment is required; however, football shoes or multi-purpose cleated shoes are encouraged. Instruction will cover all positions and campers will have the opportunity to work both offense and defense. Those registering after July 17th will NOT be guaranteed a T-shirt!
